As expected the council have published proposed plans to turn the prom into a car park, to replace parking lost to the hotel. They plan take away one third (1.8m) of the pavement to allow up to 70 herring bone parking space. The plan is just to move the kerb further in and rip out the excess paving stones, disrupting the current red squares.
Other enhancements to the prom include reducing the available road with by 1.8m, a 20mph speed limit and traffic calming measures including raised tables at junctions. It's not safe to speed in a car park.
They have justified the change as
"A number of residents have expressed a desire for increased car parking in the area. There is an opportunity to increase the parking provision on South Parade if a reduction to the width of the current promenade pavement is made." Yet are replacing a 173 space car park with a hotel, total spin?
There's an exhibition on from the 1st to the 14th of Sept in the concourse (press announcement?), where you can fill in a survey form. They are not asking for opinions on the hotel, but I would advise writing on it "
I _object_ to the hotel", or mark it if you are still in favour.

Have CI found out underground parking and hotels are not compatible with high flood risk areas? Do the numbers add up? Can they get credit?
