West kirby closure dates 2 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 1
To those who haven't been lately (or those who live further afield) it's been posted in the changing room that the marina will be closed 9th March-21st June. The carpark will also be out of bounds as the contractors equipment will be stored there. Reliance Marine confirmed these dates.

Pretty high I guess, loads of wind but no water!!

Any one know if the outer section of the new wall will be similar to the exsiting wall (rocks placed at the same angle) or a vertical wall? Cant imaging them using a vertical wall for a number of reasons, but you never know! A vertical wall would not be good.

Also, are they just replacing the original 100 year + old section, or the entire wall?

All

Now we all know when our favourite flatwater spot will be closed, , it's time to to think of alternatives whilst the lake is closed. Here's my list of options

Crosby, though I've never sailed it
Llanfairfechan
Fforyd, just south of Caernarfon
Leasowe
Prestatyn

Trouble with the last 4 is they are tidal and on low tide need a long walk or can't be sailed, and of course it takes longer for to travel to them, so timing your session becomes more important.

Anymore , ideas, options or considerations for alternatives gratefully received......

got two more but not strictly flat mroe slightly lumpy
Ainsdale
Thursdaston- offers more time on the tide than kirby

and
West Kirby Marine Lake bank (holiday weekend) - there filling the lake up for the wilson could try and get a sneaky one in

the wall is going to be raised 6 inches so a bit deeper and less likely to allow to much sand to build up not sure

Just thinking about the raising of the wall by 6 inches. Will this effect the replenishment from high tides. If it does the marina could effectively be "landlocked" thus encouraging the growth of blue/green algae, and what about the poor fish, stuck there FOREVER, never seeing their kids again. More seriously the temperature change would take on that of a lake and not a river.
