So my family are going on a flotilla in the Saronic islands on the west coast of greece. I was wondering wether it would be worthwile taking windsurfing kit along and if so, what kit to take. CBA with sails bigger than a 5.3.
Anyone else got a holiday booked?

Who are you going with? If it's Sunsail you can request a board and rig as part of the onboard kit.
Not familiar with the Saronic Islands. Would think the prevailing summer wind will be the Meltemi. Usually N or NE building up to a good f4, occasionally f5 by mid afternoon so unless there are some topographic features to accelerate the wind I think you would be better with a 6m.
Can you get in touch with the flotilla leader to ask about conditions? The holiday company must at least have a phone number for the flotilla base.

It's with Sailing Holidays, will try and get in touch with them to ask. Don't think i'll bother if it's 6m sails tho.

I've done four of these flotillas with Sailing Holidays - two in the ionian, one in croatia and the last one in Saronic Islands
They're fantastic holidays but I wouldn't recommend the windsurfer on board - they offer one for a fee per week - we did it one year and used it twice to potter round a bay in light winds.
As for taking your own I would think that would be really difficult to do and really not worthwhile.

Not sure about the Meltemi for us the winds have tended to be below force 4 (but lovely and sunny) and there is not much space on the boat, especially if you want to sail as much as possible. Rigging is a bit of a nightmare if you have to do it on the boat and many of the harbors you stay in aren't suitable.

The best windsurfing we've done is when we called in to Vassiliki on the ionian trips and hired from the vass holidays
