Jay - Doh - I got the van number wrong - it's 23. See you in the glenny post beach business and pre- barby fodder on saturday then.

Windy - The forcasts are a combination of theyr, windguru, the proudman oceanographic lab, bbc, and anything else I fancy looking at that morning...... apparently on the new and improved iwindsurf site I'll be able to post pics up too, so copies of weather maps etc. will be forthcoming..... Hope you are finding them handy..... if you've any comments (other than from last weekends dodgy forcast which probably saw a large number of us gardening in a force 5), I'd be glad to hear 'em.

Anyone interested - Forcast for the w/e 30/7 is:

friday

kirby - F2/3 NW

rhossy and a'soch - f2 NW, swinging to west around 6ish. Should be nice n sunny.

Saturday - sunny (fingers crossed) until about 4 or 5pm, then clouding over.

kirby - F3 NW. turning NE by evening. Tide at 11.21 am - 8.71m

Rhossy and A'soch - NE F2, turning NE by evening.

Sunday - bit of cloud about, but not too bad at all.

Kirby - veering from E to SE F2/3 decreasing through the day.

Rhossy n A'soch - veering from E to S F2 through the day.

where do yous usually sail from in Abersoch ? Quarries, Pwthelli ? I've got a caravan at the Sarn Bach end of Abersoch and and go most weekends. usually sail from the Quarries or main beach, but am always amazed by the lack of windsurfing activity. Appreciate the weather info....

cheers

mat

Monday 2nd

kirby - SE F2/3

Rhossy & A'soch - F2 SE

Tues & Weds

F2/3 veering around S (tue) to W to WNW by weds eve. Bit of cloud about on Tuesday, but wednesdays gonna be a ripper (if sunbathing is your thing).

This wind looks pretty set in for this week. Time to renew all your ropes, oil stuff, sand down those knackered fins, and finally dig out the frisbee and head for the park.

Jay - did u get as frazzled as me in abersoch this w/e? I never made it into the glenny 'cos got stuck into a mega wakeboarding session, my arms are now officially goosed! See ya next time - may well be there next w/e if the weather holds.

Matclarke - I sail all over the place there (see venue reviews), and agree with you that there's very few windsurfers about, even on brilliant days! It's wierd. I've spent a lot of days sailing on my own, which is OK but it's much more fun with some other sailors out there. Maybe all us abersoch windsurfers should exchange numbers so's we can all ring round in the morning and see where's best (& it'd save me driving all over the place to check each spot out before deciding), and provide a half decent number of windsurfers out there. Any one uip for that?

The quarry is nice cos of the grassy bit to rig up on, but I often find the big outcrop messes the wind up. I reckon it's one of the most popular spots though - on occasion I've seen 5 whole windsurfers out, ALL AT THE SAME TIME! - yep 5!!

Pwllheli beach is my favourite cos I think it gets the best wind. If it's in the right direction I sail near the entrance to the marina, or further up the beach (accessed by the road after jewsons - see venue revue for more info) - that's also a good kite spot. The shore break at most states of the tide on windy days is brutal though, and it's trick to touch the bottom until you're about 30cm from the beach.

I've never had a good day at the main beach, but I think that's down to luck, or lack of it.

My best day was at hells mouth, and I've had a few really good sessions there, and even spotted 3 other windsurfers out at the same time too! It's just a pain in the butt getting down to the beach.

Monday 2nd

kirby - SE F4 (after about 11am for most of the day). Gusty as hell on the lake.

Rhossy & A'soch - F2 SE

Tues & Weds

F2/3 veering around S (tue) to W to WNW by weds eve. Bit of cloud about on Tuesday, but wednesdays gonna be a ripper (if sunbathing is your thing).

i just spent the weekend lazin round abersoch beach spyin all the lovely ladies, dissapointing wind conditions but i got a nice tan and ate loadsa bar b qued food from terry the butchers. Didnt make it to the glenny either, my old fellas got his summer stash of beer in so that was more than adequate.

I agree about hookin up to go sailing, i dont know any one who sails down there so if you want to swap numbers that would be cool, if you send me your e mail ill send you my mobile number! Im just gettin back into it properly this season so havnt got much experience of the venues around abersoch, never sailed at pwthelli. I used to sail a lot off the quarry end of the warren up untill about 6/7 years ago and remember windsurfing to be really popular but over the last few years ive hardly seen anyone, its all dinghy sailing and wakeboarding. When you meen quarry beach do you mean the opposite end of the warren beach from Abersoch?? If theres gonna be any wind next week im well up for goin down, really want to go sailing on the sea again, West Kirbys good but theres too many walls there for when you get goin.

What you like at wakeboarding, im alright, can get up no probs but weve only got a small boat with know jump pole so gettin airs is damn near impossable, still a buzz just carvin it up though.
