Hi everyone,

This is a short message just to let you know that Grimwith is closed from 1st March 2005, for two months, and re-opens again on 1st May 2005.

This unfortunate, annual, enforced closure is to allow the Ringed Plovers, Widgeons and other birds to nest during the breeding season. Unfortunately, there is nothing that the club can do about it at the moment and we all must comply. We have no wish to upset the birdwatchers, National Park Authorities, Yorkshire Water or planners as we have planning and building issues still to be finalised before a start can be made on the proposed new clubhouse.

Ian.

One or two Grimwith regulars usually come to Clowbridge during the closed period.

It's nowhere near as big as Grimwith but it's only 40 mins away.

If anyone in the NW would like to encourage the migration of these little feathered fellows to the Wirral please drop by Grimwith Res with your van or trailer, obviously take care not to squash the the little chaps as you pull up in the car park. I suggest this only to increase the diversity of bird species in your part of the world, not that I am miffed coz I can't sail without a 2hr drive for the next two months.
