Got on the water on Sunday about 12.00 - at least 30 out windsurfing and a few kites. Started off well powered 4.2m lovely waves warm and bright.
Wind was picking up steadilly untill about 1.30 I got a huge jump which I landed very flat still hooked in and didn't bend the back leg too much to cushion the landing. The load crack I heard luckilly enough wasn't from my leg or knee but when I looked down my my poor little wave board was split right across the deck just in front of the back foot pads !
Quick sail back to shore but the verdict was definate - that board was rubber ducked.
I wasn't ready to pack up and go home yet so off I goes to the shop.
Nearly bought the 2nd hand 2003 70l JP Wave but after some good salesmanship from Dave I came out with a 2005 Starboard Evo 74
By the time I got back out and pluged the 4.2m onto it I was starting to get quite overpowered but stuck with it for half an hour then came in and changed down to 3.6m for another half hour.
Bearing in mind the extreme conditions for my first sail with this board my initial impressions are that it planes very early, its very keen to jump and if the tale sinks on landing it just seems to cork back out and its up and away again with hardly any effort, excellent carving, easy over the white water on the way out and good riding on the way back in.
Hope to give it a better test on Saturday afternoon.
P.S. Don't want you to think the JP was weak in any way its just my heavy footed landing (2nd board I've broken like this). As Dave in the shop said he's heavier than me, been sailing loads more than me and jumps higher than me but never broken a board yet.

Blimey mate - good effort!! Glad it didn't happen while I was sailing it!!
I'd love to have a bash on your Evo next time I see ya up at the beach, they look superb....
What have you done with the remains of your trusty JP - coffee table or book shelf?
I too am the proud owner of a new toy - picked up a 2002 fanatic goya 250 (but pretty much unused!) - thrashed it on tuesday and it's mint - athough suffering from car park rash already.
Be seeing you at rhossy this afternoon? - looks a bwee bit windy.... my arms are still feeling a little 'stretched', but i think I'll give it a go....

Havn't managed to get out at all this week and the frustration is starting to get to me (lads at work darn't mention the wind at the moment in case I go off on one and give them all a bo****ing).
Favorite resting place for the old girl up to now seems to be on the ceiling of my daughters bedroom (alongside the remains of a 5m NP Search that I managed to destroy on its second time out).
Will definatly be out Saturday afternoon after work, hopefuly Rhossy but maybe WK depending on the forcast nearer the time and at least one day next week if this windy spell continues.
