Moving to N Wales! 16 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 16
I'm moving to North Wales!! Probably to a place called Deganwy, which is near Llandudno.

I'm not sure wheres best for windsurfing round there, where I wont be on my own all the time. Obviously Rhossy isn't too far away, but if there's somewhere outside my back door that is regularly frequented by windsurfers, that'd be even better!

Does anyone know of popular spots near there that would be good - or are there any of you that live near there that want a sailing chum somewhere on windy days?

Cheers = )

I've been told Llandudno West Shore is good in a Westerly. Never sailed there though:

You could try the venues, above. I also lived in Nefyn, and one site recommended Nefyn and Port Colmon, but although I didn't windsurf at the time (doh!), it's usually off shore with quite a wind shadow due to cliffs. Dinas is good by all accounts but on the Lleyn peninsula you're better on the south side. Not exactly back-door though.

I've sailed once from Penmaenmawr (a couple of miles past conwy)where you can blast out to puffin island. South westerlies can funnel a bit down the menai straights and there is a big sandbank(Dutchman bank) which dries to a couple of metres.When i sailed it was pretty flat but wind over tide can be really choppy.Hope this helps a bit as its pretty close to deganwy.

You can actually sail at Deganwy itself !! Known as West Shore, launch at the end near the paddling pool / alice in wonderland statue cracking venue.

West shore very popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing.

You should be able to get to Rhossy well before me now.

Sounds like a good move, any particular reason or just the lure of living by the sea?
