Hi Guys.

It looks like there's an intermediate wind of 10 mph this afternoon at West Kirby so I figure Id have a run up. I'm riding a Starboard Go 144 with North Natural 6.2 which might just reach s plane. I need some foot strap practice and more water time generally.

If there's any more experienced riders going this after, can you help me with some advise? I'm driving a White vw van.

I've read your first log. Where does the Jem Hall clinic come into it? Oh, and where is the location you've sworn never to return to? Come on, dish the dirt!!!!!!!!!

Alright aj.
Mmm yeh. I made the mistake of leaving some boxes blank when I submitted the log and it must auto filled with a default. So....... The sites got me down as a complete fake lol. Jem Hall is a top windsurfer though.

I've moved on as far as the naff training is concerned. They are in business to make a living and they probably learned from their mistakes. I could have made more of it at the time if it mattered that much to me but I chose to slip away quietly.

How's the windsurfing where you are??

Hi Matt, i was at West Kirby Saturday. I was the one going over the handlebars about twenty times! Had a good session though and halfway through it clicked about mast foot pressure - upto that point planing was hit and miss; i kept thinking my lines needed adjusting or the mastfoot needed moving! When you learn something it makes it all worthwhile and sailing more enjoyable. I'm reading up on the waterstart now - i've managed the beach start inconsistently and tried the waterstart on Saturday but clearly i wasn't doing it right. I'm just really happy i'm upto speed and much better able to control the board. I tried to get in the straps but that's for another day - ended up stepping on top of the rear strap squashing it down - i think the fact i wasn't far enough back on the board was partly why i kept flying over the front. Can't stop thinking about my next session now - i think ADDICTION is the right word for it!!!

Hi aj.
I finally got chance to post a reply.
It sounds like we are both at the same level as I'm working on the same skills. Things can get really frantic when your overpowered though. As my smallest sail is a 6.2 I've found the high wind setting is alot more stable. I've also found that raising the boom slightly helps as well.

I'm also finding the board turns to wind and stalls when I take the rear strap. I think it's all about improving the stance.

What kit are you using?
