Hi everyone!
It's been many years but i've returned to the sport.
However, i'm a little bit larger than before (c.120kg). I've bought cheap on fleabay and tried the board today at West Kirby. It's a Fanatic Snake 335 and i think 185 litres. I thought this would be enough volume but alas found it incredibly tippy. I managed to sail it in a straight line but turning was impossible. Most of the time was spent standing in silt! Still enjoyed it but annoyed with the board.
I will be posting thread in the right forum for advice on right board for my size. Interestingly, a young lad there (who teaches) said keep hold of this board as the better i get the easier it will be. However, at the moment i consider the problem volume/stabilty rather than lack of skill.
Must say how much i like West Kirby and a pity it's closing from October. My local pond however will be Watergrove and i'm looking forward to joining there. Beautiful place! Only thing is, the times i've been up there, the wind hasn't been there.
Anyhow, i've taken the first step and it's great to be back!
Happy Sailing to all
